Ukraine will do its best to receive the third tranche of the macro-financial assistance from the European Union, Ukraine’s President Petro Poroshenko has said.
“For my part, I will do everything in my power to enable Ukraine to receive the macro-financial assistance, and we have developed a draft of our cooperation with the European Union for the future,” the president told journalists in Brussels on Thursday.
He noted that the key project is Vision 2020 – Ukraine’s 20 Steps to the EU until 2020.
Poroshenko also stressed that Ukraine should do its homework, and the European Union should fulfill its agreed obligations. According to the president, Ukraine has a few steps to make, despite the fact that the European Union recognizes the obvious progress that Ukraine has achieved.
The head of state recalled that Ukraine had “an autumn of reforms” – reforms in education, healthcare, the completion of judicial reform, reform in cyber defense, reform of the privatization program.
According to him, American and European partners of Ukraine are satisfied with the pace of reforms in the country.
Head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine Hugues Mingarelli earlier said in an interview with the European Truth e-magazine that Ukraine may lose the opportunity to attract €600 million of macro-financial assistance from the EU, unless it meets a number of requirements.
The ambassador said that there are still four unfulfilled conditions for the country’s getting the macro-financial aid: removing the moratorium on untreated timber exports, launching automatic e-declarations checks, passing the law on NBU’s credit register, and introducing checks of information on beneficial owners of companies.
