You're reading: Poroshenko calls on pro-Ukrainian opposition forces to unite

The mediocre policy of the current Ukrainian government has led to the fact that the Opposition Platform – For Life party is strengthening its positions, and that is why democratic, pro-European forces must unite and prevent revenge, fifth President of Ukraine, leader of the European Solidarity party Petro Poroshenko said.

“It is time to collect stones. We appeal to all democratic forces about the need for an immediate process of unification in front of these challenges facing our state. I believe that this is quite possible. We are open to any negotiations, the compromises that will be able to unite democratic forces and to protect Ukraine from the revenge, which is being pulled by Opposition Platform – For Life party and Servants of the People,” Poroshenko said in an exclusive interview to the Priamy television channel. The politician said following the local elections, European Solidarity became the only nationwide pro-Ukrainian opposition force. He also said that according to sociologists, so far three political forces have about 20% of support, these are European Solidarity, Servant of the People, and Opposition Platform – For Life.

“Moreover, according to a number of studies, the ‘servants’ have already lost their leadership. I am not happy with this. In some sociological studies, Opposition Platform – For Life has moved forward. And this is the tactics of [President of Ukraine Volodymyr] Zelensky, who is fighting only with Poroshenko. We can see on voting that both for ministers and for individual budget items, such a coalition is already being formed, consisting of the Opposition Platform – For Life, the Servants of the People and the Batkivschyna parties, unfortunately, and from the For the Future and Dovira groups,” he said.

Poroshenko also expressed his conviction that “Zelensky, by his inaction, is pushing Medvedchuk to the position of the prime minister, and we will definitely not allow this by 100%. We thank those who supported us. We will not let you lose your voice to those who support democratic circles,” the politician said.
