Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said he will decide whether to seek reelection when the election campaign begins.

“I wouldn’t like to talk about which presidential candidates are leading in the polls, because I am busy reforming the state, reforming the defense sector, foreign policy, and not working on ratings. I have been doing this from the very beginning. My decision about seeking reelection will come when the election campaign starts,” Poroshenko said at a press conference in Kyiv on Feb.28.

The head of state said it is necessary now to unite all political forces, civil society and government agencies.

“This is why I was for snap parliamentary elections in 2014, so we would have at least four years to conduct reforms. As long as parliament, the government and the coalition are capable of pushing through reforms, we will work,” Poroshenko said.
