President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has signed a decree “On the decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine dated September 6, 2018″ On the Treaty on Friendship, Cooperation and Partnership between Ukraine and the Russian Federation.”
According to the decision of the National Security and Defense Council, which was put into effect by Poroshenko’s decree, the proposals of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine regarding the termination by Ukraine of the Treaty on Friendship, Cooperation and Partnership between Ukraine and the Russian Federation, signed on May 31, 1997, were supported.
In particular, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine must declare to the Russian Federation the desire of Ukraine to terminate the treaty of friendship with the Russian Federation in accordance with Article 40 of this treaty and to submit in accordance with the established procedure for consideration to the president of Ukraine the draft law of Ukraine on the termination of the treaty on friendship, cooperation and partnership between Ukraine and The Russian Federation.
