You're reading: Poroshenko hopes Ukraine will bring Russia to international responsibility

Ukraine’s fifth president Petro Poroshenko has congratulated Ukraine on its victory at the UN International Court of Justice in The Hague.

“Despite all the manipulations and fakes by Russia, Ukraine convinced the court with its well-reasoned position to continue the consideration of the case. The court decision once again proves that the attention of the international community is focused on Russian aggression, that the issues of Donbas and Crimea are not closed, and permanent membership in the UN Security Council is not responsibility exemption,” he wrote on his Facebook page.

Poroshenko noted that over the past five years a long way has been done, but there is still a lot of work ahead.

“It is important not to ease pressure, fight for victory, not make any compromises with the aggressor, who seeks to avoid responsibility at all costs and impose peace on his own terms. I hope that the Ukrainian leadership will continue the struggle and ensure that Russia is brought to international responsibility!” he stressed.
