Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said more than Hr 1 billion had been allocated for the needs of the Air Forces of Ukraine.
“More than Hr 1 billion has been allocated from the national budget for the Air Forces of Ukraine for the renewal of fighting capacity, maintenance and repairs of weapons and military equipment. This will allow supplying more than 40 basic types of weapons and equipment to military units,” the head of state said during his working visit to Vinnytsia region on occasion of the Day of Air Forces of Ukraine.
He noted the military units had already received renovated and modernized aircraft, anti-aircraft, missile and radar systems.
“During the first six months Su-24M, Su-25M1, MiG-29, An-26, L-39 aircraft, radar complexes and other equipment were sent to the military units after modernization and repairs” Poroshenko said.
The Day of the Air Forces of Ukraine is celebrated annually on the first Sunday of August (August 6 in 2017).
