Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko initiates the allocation in 2019 of UAH 3 billion for connecting rural schools to the Internet.
“I will initiate the allocation of Hr 3 billion for the connection of rural schools to the Internet next year … If we lay the Internet cable for telemedicine in rural medicine, then it is obvious that both the school and the village council should have high-speed Internet,” he said at a meeting of the Regional Development Council in Kyiv on Monday.
The president also said that he would promote an increase in subventions for inclusive education up to Hr 1 billion.
As reported, in May, Ukrtelecom stated that the mass projects for connecting remote locations to the service of broadband Internet access will not pay off without government participation. According to Ukrtelecom, 8.3 million people living in 21,749 villages of Ukraine are deprived of the opportunity to use high-speed Internet.
