Ukraine’s President Petro Poroshenko has initiated a special meeting of the Consultative Committee of the Presidents of Ukraine and Poland to prevent further escalation of tension between the two countries, Svyatoslav Tsegolko, spokesman for the Ukrainian president, said.

“Recent strong statements by representatives of the Polish authorities addressed to Ukraine and its leadership cause serious concern and cannot be left without proper response. In order to strengthen the strategic partnership between Ukraine and the Republic of Poland, and to avoid further escalation of tension, recognizing the need to resolve any outstanding issues in bilateral relations exclusively in a civilized European way, Ukraine’s President Petro Poroshenko has initiated the holding of an extraordinary meeting of the Consultative Committee of the Presidents of Ukraine and Poland,” Tsegolko wrote on his Facebook page.
