Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has instructed Ukrainian diplomats to take all measures for the early release of Ukrainian journalist Roman Sushchenko and other Ukrainians detained in the Russian Federation.

“I’ve given the appropriate instructions so that all Ukrainian diplomatic options are used to release Panov and Sushchenko, and other Ukrainian hostages detained in the Russian Federation,” Poroshenko told journalists in Kyiv.

As reported, the FSB detained Suschenko on spying charges in Moscow, and the Lefortovsky District Court sanctioned Sushchenko’s arrest for two months on October 1.

Kyiv has qualified Sushchenko’s detention as provocation and the spying charges as absurd.
