Fifth President of Ukraine, MP of the European Solidarity faction Petro Poroshenko met with U.S. Charge d’Affaires in Ukraine Kristina Kvien, the press service of the political force said on October 18.

“The sides discussed further assistance from the United States in countering the ongoing Russian aggression against Ukraine. The importance of strengthening international unity and solidarity with Ukraine to ensure the de-occupation of Donbas and Crimea was emphasized.”

The sides paid special attention to the state of reforms in Ukraine, in particular in the area of the rule of law and justice, corporate governance, and the resilience of public institutions.

The interlocutors said that an effective fight against corruption should remain among the indisputable priorities of Ukraine and be carried out in a legal, legally justified way.

Poroshenko and Kvien also discussed the issues of ensuring the energy security of Ukraine amid Russia’s attempts to use gas as a political weapon.

Poroshenko expressed gratitude for the continued solidarity with Ukraine based on the bipartisan support of the United States.
