You're reading: Poroshenko promises not to increase gas price for population in May

The current situation with the price of natural gas on the European market allows the Ukrainian authorities to refrain from increasing the cost of this type of energy for the population, scheduled for May 1, said President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko.

“The current situation on the market makes it possible not to raise gas prices in May,” he said in an interview with the Ukraina TV channel on March 22 evening.

The head of state added that he would “be committed” to rejection of the increase in gas prices for residential consumers planned for May 1, reasoning that by the current price situation for natural gas, the profitability of Naftogaz Ukrainy, as well as energy efficiency and a number of other factors.

According to the president, Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman also stated this earlier and there was a corresponding message from the national joint-stock company Naftogaz Ukrainy.
