Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said that in three years of decommunization more than 1,300 Lenin monuments in 32 cities have been removed.

“During these years we adopted and implemented a number of important measures in the sphere of humanities policy and national remembrance. We are creating our own identity, defending our cultural and humanitarian space. Over these three years we have conducted decommunization and removed more than 1,300 statues of Lenin in 32 cities and regions across Ukraine – in almost 1,000 inhabited areas,” Poroshenko said on Sept. 7 during his annual parliamentary address.
