The Ukrainian State Bureau of Investigations is summoning the country’s former President and MP Petro Poroshenko for questioning on May 26 as a witness in a case opened into the illegal transfer of cultural valuables across the state border, the bureau said on Facebook on May 22.
“We notify Poroshenko of the need to come to the State Bureau of Investigations at 11:00 a.m. on May 26, 2020, for questioning as a witness (…). You are being summoned (…) in connection with a criminal case (…) investigating the circumstances of the transfer of a collection of cultural valuables, which consists of 43 paintings of world-renowned artists, across the customs border of Ukraine, concealing it from customs control,” it said.
The State Bureau of Investigations is currently conducting a pretrial inquiry as part of several criminal cases in which Poroshenko is a witness.
