WASHINGTON – Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko says that over 40,000 Russian and Russian-backed military forces are now deployed in occupied areas in Ukraine.

“Today we have more than 3,000 regular Russian troops on my territory, plus the Russian-operated proxies – all together more than 40,000,” Poroshenko said in an interview with Fox News during his working visit to Washington, D.C.

He also informed about the presence of the enemy’s military hardware in the occupied areas.

“And we have more [enemy] tanks, more multi-rocket launch systems, more artillery on this occupied territory than the Bundeswehr [the unified armed forces] in Germany,” he added.
