Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson in a phone conversation on Dec.22 coordinated positions on a UN peacekeeping force in the occupied part of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

“Petro Poroshenko and Rex Tillerson coordinated positions on a UN peacekeeping mission in the occupied part of Donbas,” the press service of the head of state reported.

The sides discussed the escalation of the situation in Donbas due to the increased number of shelling attacks by Russian militants and the irresponsible withdrawal of Russian officers from the Joint Center for Control and Coordination (JCCC).

Poroshenko expressed gratitude for the extension of sanctions against Russia, the consistent support of Washington in strengthening Ukraine’s defense capability and the UN resolution on Crimea. Tillerson, in turn, stressed that the United States would continue to support Ukraine.

In addition, the sides discussed the progress of Ukrainian reforms. Poroshenko also briefed Tillerson on unblocking the process of the creation of the anti-corruption court.
