Former Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine during the times of Viktor Yanukovych, Andriy Portnov, was questioned by the General Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine on May 22 as a witness in the Maidan case, Serhiy Horbatiuk, the head of the special investigations department of the Prosecutor General’s Office, told Interfax-Ukraine.

“His lawyer called investigators in the morning and asked for interrogation, since on Monday [May 27, the date on which Portnov was requested to come] he won’t be in Ukraine,” Horbatiuk said.

According to him, the investigators agreed and conducted an interrogation on May 22.

“It was a preliminary interrogation, there will be additional ones,” the head of the special investigations department added.

Portnov also said about the interrogation in the Telegram channel.

“During the interrogation, I reported on the role of Head of the Special Investigations Department Horbatiuk and the leadership of the Prosecutor General’s Office in concealing massacres on the Maidan. Now investigators will have a little more work – they must investigate by checking the given information, interrogate their own leaders and put it all in the register of pretrial investigations,” he said.

According to Portnov, he spent 3.5 hours in the Prosecutor General’s Office.
