The entry into force of the law, which reduces to three the number of international postal items that are not subject to value added tax, will make impossible the work of express carriers and postal operators, Director General of Ukrposhta Ihor Smeliansky has said at a press conference at Interfax-Ukraine.
According to him, Ukrposhta, postal and logistics companies Nova Poshta, Intime, TMM Express, Aramex (International Express LLC), Meest Group, Delivery Group, as well as the Ukrainian Direct Marketing Association have appealed to President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko with the request to veto this law. In addition, four more Ukrainian representative offices of well-known international postal operators, according to President of the Ukrainian Direct Marketing Association Valentyn Kalashnik, also support the need for vetoing, but they do not have the right to sign the appropriate appeal until it is agreed with the parent companies.
“Considering the fact that today most of the postal items are inexpensive – up to $10, and Ukraine is not ready to implement such administrative measures, we consider it necessary to ask you to veto this law and return it to the profile committee of the Verkhovna Rada for revision,” the document reads.
