You're reading: President should sign amendments to energy annex of Ukraine-EU Association Agreement as soon as possible

Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze has said that it is important that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy signs amendments to Annex XXVII to the Ukraine-EU Association Agreement (AA) as soon as possible before the Ukraine-EU summit.

“The long-awaited energy Annex XXVII to the Agreement, the painstaking work on which in the government and then in parliament lasted for a year. However, it is necessary that not only Verkhovna Rada and the Cabinet of Ministers do their work, but that the president also signed the bill now, a few weeks before the Ukraine-EU summit (let me remind you that it is scheduled for July 8). We are waiting and very concerned,” she wrote in the Facebook social network.

According to the deputy prime minister, it will be possible to begin negotiations on Ukraine’s membership in the EU with the termination of the Association Agreement and the completion of its implementation by Ukraine.

“But to move implementing the Agreement, and this is key thing. We need a full understanding and cooperation of all the institutions involved. If at least one of the links demonstrates a non-constructive position, the whole process is hindered,” Klympush-Tsintsadze said.

She also said that some of the European integration bills have been waiting for their adoption for years.
