The congress of the Kremlin-friendly Opposition Platform – For Life has tasked its faction in the Ukrainian parliament with initiating the impeachment procedure against Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

“We, delegates of the 24th congress of the political party Opposition Platform – For Life, […] have resolved as follows: the […] Opposition Platform – For Life faction in Verkhovna Rada will initiate due procedure to impeach Zelensky as president of Ukraine,” the congress said in its resolution published on the political force’s website on Feb. 4.

According to the resolution, Opposition Platform – For Life has condemned the actions of Zelensky, who issued Decree No. 43/2021 on Feb. 2, introducing personal sanctions against Member of Parliament Taras Kozak, who is member of the party’s political council, and blocked the work of three television channels, 112 Ukraine, NewsOne and ZIK. The party has described the move by Zelensky as unconstitutional and unlawful.
