You're reading: Prosecutor who heads Sevastopol prosecutor’s office notified of suspicion of treason

The former head of the Prosecutor’s Office of Sevastopol, who agreed to take the position of acting Prosecutor of Sevastopol, was notified of suspicion of high treason, according to the Prosecutor General’s Office.

“Prosecutors of the Department for Supervision of Criminal Proceedings for Crimes Committed in the Conditions of an Armed Conflict, the Prosecutor General’s Office, notified a former employee of the prosecutor’s office of Ukraine (part 1 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) about suspicion of high treason,” the of the Prosecutor General’s Office said in its Telegram channel.

The Prosecutor General’s Office notes that, according to the investigation, the head of the Prosecutor’s Office of Sevastopol in March 2014 agreed to an offer to take the position of Acting Prosecutor of Sevastopol without subordination to the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine.

“Thus, being an employee of the prosecutor’s office of Ukraine since 2001, he helped representatives of the special services, law enforcement and other state authorities of the Russian Federation in conducting subversive activities against Ukraine, as well as in the illegal formation and functioning of the system of state authorities of the Russian Federation in the city of Sevastopol,” the message said.
