Minor clashes have flared up between protesters and law enforcement on Independence Square in Kyiv after police in special uniforms and balaclavas approached activists who were attempting to set up a tent.

After the officers came up to the base of the Independence Stele, where protesters wanted to put a tent on the Day of Freedom and Dignity, a participant in the protest used a loudspeaker to tell the police not to obstruct a peaceful gathering and not to breach people’s constitutional rights, an Interfax correspondent has reported.

Protesters are ousting the police from this area and have already set up several tents.
