The Verkhovna Rada has supported the resignation of Roman Abramovsky from the post of Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine.
Some 322 MPs voted for the corresponding decision at a plenary session on Nov. 3. Abramovsky has served as Minister of Environment since June 19, 2020.
As reported, on Oct. 19, the Office of the Verkhovna Rada received an official resignation letter from Abramovsky about his resignation from the post of Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine. The Committee on Environmental Policy and Environmental Management at its meeting on October 20 considered Abramovsky’s letter and recommended that the parliament determine the adoption of a decision on this matter by voting in the session hall.
According to the head of the Servant of the People parliamentary faction David Arakhamia, there will be a sufficient number of votes for Abramovsky’s resignation in parliament. He also said that the main complaint about the minister’s work is the extremely high level of corruption of eco-inspections in the regions.
A source from the Interfax-Ukraine agency said that the agency could be headed by Andriy Zhupanin, chairman of the subcommittee on the gas, gas transportation industry, and gas supply policy of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Energy and Housing and Utilities (Servant of the People).
