You're reading: Rada ratifies Treaty on transfer of convicted persons between Ukraine, Egypt

The Verkhovna Rada has ratified the Treaty on the transfer of convicted persons between Ukraine and Egypt, which was signed in Cairo on June 1, 2021.

Some 290 parliamentarians voted for corresponding bill No. 0126. The ratification of the treaty makes it possible to ensure the creation of a legal mechanism for effective cooperation between the competent authorities of Ukraine and Egypt in the field of transfer of convicted persons.

As explained in the accompanying documents to the treaty, the ratification of the treaty will enable citizens of the two countries to serve sentences for criminal offenses committed in their state.
