Ukrainian MPs on July 5 refused to start dismissing members of the Central Election Commission (CEC) whose term of office has expired and appointing new ones instead.

According to an Interfax-Ukraine reporter, Verkhovna Rada Speaker Andriy Parubiy put to the so-called rating vote the question of whether parliamentarians agree to begin consideration of this issue. Only 189 people’s deputies supported this decision.

The dismissal and appointment of CEC members requires at least 226 votes of MPs.
