You're reading: Radio Poland: Russian man who attacked a Ukrainian soldier in Kyiv fled to Poland

According to Ukraine’s Hromadske Radio, Dmitry Ivashchenko, who was involved in defending Donetsk airport in 2014, was approached by five people in Kyiv on May 2 before he was beaten and stabbed.

One man was armed with a hammer and another with a knife, Ivashchenko was cited by Hromadske Radio as saying.
