Raids at national energy company Ukrenergo are linked to violation of law during procurement tenders for the needs of the company, the National Police has reported.

“As part of the criminal proceedings, the facts of criminal activity of officials of the energy company during tenders for the procurement of goods, works and services for own needs were established and documented. According to preliminary data, the amount of damage exceeds Hr 40 million,” the law enforcement body said on its website.

Employees of the Economic Protection Department, investigators of the Main Investigation Department of the National Police under the procedural leadership of the General Prosecutor’s Office raided the office premises of Ukrenergo, as well as in the place of residence of the company’s employees in the territory of Kyiv city and region, as well as in Kharkiv and Lviv.

In turn, the press service of Ukrenergo said that the management and employees of the company comply with all the requirements of law enforcement officers. They also said that the raid permit was granted by Pechersky district court of Kyiv on August 12. Criminal proceedings were opened in October 2018.

Ukrenergo operates trunk and interstate transmission lines, as well as centralized dispatching of the country’s integrated power grids. It is a state-owned enterprise, which was managed by Ukraine’s Finance Ministry.
