You're reading: Real wages in Ukraine 0.4% down in April

Real wages in Ukraine in April decreased 0.4% compared with April 2019, while compared with March 2020 by 9.6%, the State Statistics Service has said.

According to the authority, the average nominal wage of full time employees in April compared with March decreased 8.9%, year-over-year (compared with April 2019) it rose by 1.6%, amounting to Hr 10,430.

The authority said that in March it was Hr 11,446, in February Hr 10,847, and in January Hr 10,727.

According to the statistics agency, the largest increase in the average wage of full time employees in April compared with April 2019 was observed in Luhansk (by 15.3%), Mykolaiv (by 10.2%), Kirovohrad (by 10%), Sumy (by 9.5%), Kherson (by 8.6%), Cherkasy (by 8.2%), Vinnytsia (by 8%), Khmelnytsky (by 7.9%), Zhytomyr (by 7.2%) and Rivne (by 7.1%) regions.

At the same time, a decline in salary was recorded in Volyn (by 5.3%), Ternopil (by 4.3%), Chernivtsi (by 1.8%), Kharkiv (by 1.4%) regions and the city of Kyiv (by 3.8%).

The highest level of salaries last month was observed in Kyiv city (Hr 15,278), and the lowest – in Chernivtsi region (Hr 7,560).
