As part of the Big Construction program, initiated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, the repair of one of M-05 Kyiv-Odesa highway sections, which is part of E-95 international transport corridor, has been completed, the presidential press service said.

It is 25 km of road running through the territory of Kyiv and Cherkasy regions.

“Kyiv-Odesa is a highway that is used not only by those who live in Kyiv or Odesa. This is one of the main arteries of Ukraine,” said Deputy Head of the President’s Office Kyrylo Tymoshenko during the highway section opening in Kyiv region. He thanked the contractor company, a joint Ukrainian-Belarusian enterprise, for the quality work done.

Ambassador of Belarus to Ukraine Igor Sokol noted that the Belarusian side is ready for new tasks.

“Consider that today’s event is a gift of Belarusian builders to Ukrainian people, consumers on Constitution Day. Not even a year has passed since we opened the construction here. And you can see what a wonderful road,” the diplomat said.

According to the press service, in 2021, the State Automobile Roads Agency of Ukraine (Ukravtodor) plans to completely upgrade M-05 highway. It includes the project development and overall repair of other sections of the road, the construction of two interchanges, development of roadside infrastructure, as well as installation of recreational areas and weighing systems in motion.

“An automatic weight control station has been installed closer to Kyiv on Kyiv-Odesa highway. The weighing machine is already operating there. The weight of all passing trucks is automatically recorded. The point is being certified and standardized. And in the coming weeks, the State Service for Transport Safety (Ukrtransbezpeka) will be able to use this data and fine those who violate weight control,” said the head of Ukravtodor, Oleksandr Kubrakov.

In addition, it is planned to introduce long-term contracts for the maintenance of M-05 highway.
