You're reading: Rescuers find tourist lost in Ukraine’s Carpathian mountains

Rescue personnel in the Zakarpattia region have found a 27-year-old resident of Kyiv who had got lost skiing in the mountains near the Drahobrat resort.

The press service of the State Emergencies Service said that the rescuers received a call for assistance at 2.35 p.m. on Dec. 30. “Skiing in unfamiliar territory, the lady lost direction and got lost,” the agency said.

Five rescue workers from the village of Yasynia were dispatched for an emergency response mission. At 11.40 p.m., the tourist was located near the mountain valley of Krachuneska (direction to Chorna Tysa village). She was escorted to her hotel room at the Drahobrat skiing resort.

“The young lady’s condition was satisfactory. No medical assistance was required,” the statement said.
