You're reading: Reuters: Dutch government seeks more time for solution on Ukraine-EU treaty impasse

The Dutch government sought more time on Oct. 31 to find a way to avoid having to revoke the country’s support for a partnership agreement between the European Union and Ukraine, the foreign minister said in a letter to parliament.

Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte had said he would have to submit a bill revoking its support for the political, trade and security partnership by midnight on Oct. 31 – following a referendum in April in which Dutch voters overwhelmingly rejected the agreement.
