First Deputy Head of the Ukrainian delegation to the Trilateral Contact Group (TCG) Oleksiy Reznikov, who is also Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine, has said that members of oppositional parliamentary factions should participate in meetings of the TCG in order to understand what is going on during these talks and those who criticize the work of the TCG to offer a real plan for putting an end to the war in Donbas and restoring territorial integrity of Ukraine.
“A decision has been made, the delegation has been formed. And immediately, without waiting, without discussing the names, just because an attempt was made to give a new chance, a new impetus – they say ‘this is bad.’ Listen, there is nothing more complicated when there is no confidence in the country’s negotiators inside this country. If only these complaints were fair. However, we don’t trust just the fact and we start complaining about it. The other side benefits from this and says: ‘They have a chaos inside [the country], these negotiators are not legitimate’,” he said in an exclusive interview to Interfax-Ukraine.
Reznikov said that while updating Ukraine’s delegation to the TCG President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky entitled the head and first deputy head of the delegation to invite Ukrainian parliamentarians, experts and other people for participation in the working groups of the TCG.
“We discussed that we will involve members of all factions. I am publicly inviting representatives of the Holos faction, which has been actively commenting on the Minsk process, to join us. Of course, confidentiality and certain rules of negotiation behavior must be observed,” he said.
Reznikov also suggested everyone who has a better plan for building peace in Donbas to show it to him.
“I mean a realistic plan,” he said.
