The fifth president of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, was attacked with zelenka or the dilute alcoholic solution of brilliant green dye on the day when the country celebrated the 30th anniversary of independence on Aug. 24, 2021. Police detained the attacker on the scene and charged him with hooliganism, which carries a maximum punishment of five years of jail time. Many Ukrainians have condemned such actions against the former president.
