Former Ukrainian Prosecutor-General Ruslan Riaboshapka, who was forced out in a parliamentary vote of no confidence two months ago, is now under investigation.

Then Prosecutor General Ruslan Riaboshapka stands in his office on Nov. 19, 2019 in Kyiv. Parliament, controlled by President Volodymyr Zelensky’s Servant of the People party, fired Riaboshapka on March 5, 2020, after only six months on the job. In an interview with the Kyiv Post, Riaboshapka said Zelensky is more interested in popularity than in combatting corruption through building strong and independent law enforcement agencies. The president’s press secretary, Iuliia Mendel, denied the charges.
