More than half of prosecutors of Ukraine’s Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) have passed recertification, and materials for verification were sent to the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the SBU State Security Service Prosecutor General of Ukraine Ruslan Riaboshapka.

“Some 795 prosecutors were tested, which is approximately 60 percent of the total number of prosecutors who work in PGO,” Riaboshapka said at a meeting of the committee on legislative support for law enforcement on Nov. 27.

According to him, the prosecutors also tested for general abilities and skills, after which another 20 prosecutors dropped out and currently 769 out of 1,100 prosecutors have been admitted to the last stage – an interview and a character test.

“We have already sent profiles for each prosecutor to the NABU and the SBU and have already received two letters from the NABU – this is about 400 cases related to the analysis of conflicts of interest, the income of prosecutors who will be admitted to the next stage,” Riaboshapka said, adding the final stage (interviews) will be conducted next week.
