You're reading: Russia-backed separatists continue ceasefire violations in Donbas

The Ukrainian side in the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of the ceasefire in Donbas (JCCC) said that the Russia-backed separatists continues shelling despite the agreement of the Trilateral Contact Group (TCG) to cease fire starting at 10 a.m. on April 13.

“Thus, by 3:30 p.m. today, already nine shell attacks by militants had been recorded in the sectors of the [following] populated localities: Vodiane, Talakivka, Opytne, Katerynivka and Chermalyk, using 122-millimeter artillery, an anti-tank missile complex, infantry fighting vehicle weapons, large-caliber machineguns and small arms. An Russia-backed sniper was active near Vodiane and Talakivka,” according to a JCCC statement posted on the Facebook page of the press center of the Ukrainian Military.

In view of this, the Ukrainian side reaffirmed its commitment to the Minsk Agreements but “at the same time, in the event of emergency of an immediate threat to the life and health of our defenders, the commanders will make a decision on an adequate response to theRussia-backed separatists ,” according to the statement.
