MOSCOW – Russia has won a dispute with Ukraine at the World Trade Organization concerning restrictions on the transit of Ukrainian goods through the Russian territory, sources have said.
The publication Yevropeiska Pravda was the first to report this on April 5. A source familiar with the outcome of the dispute confirmed the report to Interfax. Official confirmation is expected on April 5 evening.
The press service of the Ministry of Economic Development recommended waiting for an announcement on the WTO’s website.
“We’d like to observe the rules of the organization and not comment on confidential information before its official publication, which we expect to come in several hours,” the press service said.
This would be Russia’s third win in disputes with Ukraine at the WTO, after a case in 2018 involving ammonium nitrate and railway equipment.
The suit involving transit restrictions is important for the WTO as a whole, as it involves issues of national security.
