Russian-sponsored forces killed Ukrainian soldier Serhii Yelysiev near the village of Pavlopil in the Donetsk Oblast, the Joint Forces Operation reported on Nov. 2.
Another soldier, whose name has not yet been released, was killed on Nov. 3.
Yelysiev, a soldier with the 128th Transcarpathian Mountain Brigade, was killed by small-arms fire.
“He was an honest, open, and cheerful man. He defended his native land in the Armed Forces from the first years of the war. Serhii leaves behind his wife and son.” read a tribute on the 128th brigade’s official Facebook page.
The second fatality resulted from militants violating the current ceasefire seven times, including twice with weapons banned by the Minsk peace agreements.
The past week alone has seen three combat deaths among Ukrainian soldiers, due to Russian aggression.
To date, 96 Ukrainian service members have been killed by militant forces since the ceasefire agreement was signed in July 2020, according to the International Crisis Group.
