Since August 18, Irish airline Ryanair has suspended accepting boarding passes issued by the Kiwi.com ticket search engine. The low-cost airline now calls them fake.

According to Ryanair press service, such sanctions are imposed due to the fact that the current procedure for issuing boarding passes uses an airline ticket search engine, and does not comply with Ryanair’s security protocols.

“We became aware of these fake boarding passes when a small number of passengers booked their flights through Kiwi.com last week, arriving at the gate without Ryanair’s official boarding passes.” Kiwi.com bypasses this requirement by checking in passengers and replacing Ryanair’s boarding pass with a fake boarding pass issued by Kiwi.com,” Ryanair Marketing Director Dara Brady told Ryanair.

The airline said customers wishing to receive an official boarding pass can do so on the Ryanair website or application.

“If you made your booking through Kiwi.com, we recommend that you contact Kiwi.com for a Ryanair booking link and email address so you can check in according to our security protocol,” the airline said.
