Kyiv’s Schevchenkivsky District Court has partially ruled in favor of a motion by the prosecutor to extend pretrial restrictions on ex-Ukrainian Fiscal Service chief Roman Nasirov and the ex-head of a department of the service Volodymyr Novikov, Ukraine’s Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) has said. Both men are accused of abuse of office, SAPO has said.

“The SAPO prosecutor filed a motion to extend the term of restrictions assigned to the defendants. The request was partially approved, except for the requirement that the suspects not leave the Kyiv and Kyiv region,” SAPO said on Facebook on Jan. 11.

Prosecutors have read 419 of 774 pages of the indictment. The next court hearing is scheduled for 4 p.m. on Jan. 23.

As SAPO earlier reported, Kyiv’s Shevchenkivsky District Court in September said Nasirov would no longer be required to wear an electronic bracelet.
