Member of Parliament from the Batkivschyna parliamentary faction Nadiia Savchenko has arrived in Moscow to attend a Russian Supreme Court meeting on the case of Ukrainian prisoners Stanyslav Klykh and Mykola Karpiuk, lawyer Ilya Novikov said.
“Nadezhda Savchenko has arrived in Moscow to attend [court hearings on] the appeal of Klykh and Karpiuk at the Supreme Court,” Novikov wrote on Twitter on Wednesday morning.
The appeal is scheduled to be considered by the Russian Supreme Court on October 26.
As reported, On May 19, 2016, the Chechen Supreme Court issued the guilty verdict against Ukrainian citizens Karpiuk and Klykh. According to Russian investigators, both men were members of the Ukrainian National Assembly-Ukrainian People’s Self-Defense (UNA-UNSO) group and fought on the side of armed units of the self-proclaimed republic of Ichkeria against Russian federal forces in 1994-1995. According to investigators, they fought against Russian troops in Grozny, including in the area of Minutka square and near the presidential palace.
