Independent people’s deputy of Ukraine Nadiya Savchenko, who is currently under arrest in the pretrial detention center on suspicion of attempting to overthrow the state power, has been nominated as a candidate for presidency in Ukraine at a meeting of Nadiya Savchenko’s Social and Political Platform party.

“Participants in the meeting today, Jan. 26, have unanimously supported the candidacy of Nadiya for the presidency of Ukraine. All documents for the CEC are ready, we need to pay the fee. We are waiting for a response from the bank on opening an account,” Savchenko’s sister Vira told Interfax-Ukraine.

According to her, the monetary contribution for Savchenko’s participation in the presidential elections in Ukraine is collected from the funds of party members and people who support her, in particular, abroad, from the United States.
