Investigators of the State Bureau of Investigations (SBI) have detained the head of the Main Directorate for Countering Economic Offenses of the State Fiscal Service (SFS) while receiving part of a bribe of $100,000, the press service of the SBI has reported.
“According to the results of an operation carried out by the Main Operational Directorate of the State Bureau of Investigations, the SBI investigators, with the involvement of their own special forces, detained the head of the Main Directorate for Countering Economic Offenses of the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine while receiving the first part of the illegal benefit in the amount of $100,000,” the SBI said on its website said last week.
According to preliminary information, $200,000 was demanded the return of documents confiscated during the search and the closure of criminal proceedings.
Now the SBI investigators are carrying out urgent investigative actions.
Procedural guidance of the pretrial investigation in criminal proceedings is carried out by the Prosecutor General’s Office. The Main Operations Directorate of the SBI provides operational support.
