Investigators of the Office for the Investigation of Crimes committed in connection with the mass protests in 2013-2014, the State Bureau of Investigations (SBI), reported suspicions to a former senior investigator of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, the press service of the State Bureau of Investigations has said.
“The investigation found that on January 21, 2014 the senior investigator illegally detained the activist and handed him a notice of suspicion of organizing a riot without any evidence of involvement in the offense. Subsequently, the police officer unsubstantially filed a motion in one of the district courts in Kyiv to apply a measure of restraint in the form of having a custody of the detainee, which was sustained by the court,” the State Bureau of Investigations said in the statement on its official website on Monday evening, June 22.
Now the issue of handing the suspect the motion to apply the measure of restraint is being decided.
