In Luhansk region, counterintelligence officers of the Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) detained the former LPR militant while trying to get into Ukraine-controlled territory.

“Counterintelligence officers of the Security Service of Ukraine found that a resident of Luhansk joined illegal armed groups in 2015. As part of the artillery unit of the militants, he took part in hostilities against the forces of the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO),” the press center of the SBU said on Monday.

The offender was detained while trying to get into the territory controlled by the Ukrainian authorities. He was notified of the suspicion of committing a crime under Part 1 of Article 258-3 (creation of a terrorist group or terrorist organization) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and a preventive measure in the form of detention was chosen. A pretrial investigation is ongoing.
