You're reading: Share of used cars in Ukraine grows to 30 percent in Sept-Oct against 10 percent in Jan-Aug

The share of primary registration of used cars in Ukraine in September-October 2016 reached 30 percent of the total registration of passenger cars in Ukraine against the previous eight months, when the figure stood at 10 percent, the Ukrautoprom association has reported.

The growth of primary registration of used cars was due to the coming into force of the changes to the Tax Code from Aug 1, which for three years significantly reduced excise duty on such cars.

According to Ukrautoprom, 167 cars were registered in the primary market in October, while 34 percent (3,094 cars) were preowned.  In 2015 the second-hand cars imarket n this segment grew by 82 percent and from September this year by 13 percent.

Among used cars the leading brands in October were Volkswagen (564 units), Renault (545 units), and Skoda (340).
