Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmygal has held a first meeting of the energy crisis response team, where members of the team were approved and Ukraine’s balance of energy was presented, the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers has reported.
Opening the meeting, Shmygal said that the current energy crisis is at the stage when the actions of the authorities must be prompt, effective and concerted.
“We are interested in having a ready action plan. Yesterday at a meeting with the president, we spoke about Ukraine’s balance of energy having already been signed today. It has been adjusted. We have worked together with key businesses in the industry,” the prime minister said.
Acting Minister of Energy and Environmental Protection Olha Buslavets told about the main challenges in the energy sector and presented a plan of quick steps to maintain the operation of the energy sector in Ukraine.
The prime minister also said that the key task facing the government currently was the need to balance the market and ensure its stability.
“We must preserve jobs, especially in the coal and nuclear industries. That is why it is crucial to develop synergy in this issue. And the balance [of energy] we have today gives us an understanding of what role and whose responsibility it is, as well as what capacities can be involved. And this is what we need to agree on with companies that own renewable energy facilities,” he said.
