Ex-Minister of Health of Ukraine since the time of fugitive President Viktor Yanukovych, Raisa Bohatyriova, has returned to the country and was handed over to employees of the National Police of Ukraine, an informed source told Interfax-Ukraine.

“Bohatyriova has returned to Ukraine today. She was handed over to the National Police at Zhuliany airport [Kyiv],” the agency’s source said on August 27 evening.

As reported, Bohatyriova is suspected of budget fund embezzlement on a large-scale basis under Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

On Sept. 16, 2016, the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine applied to the Pechersky District Court of Kyiv for permission to conduct a special pretrial investigation (in absentia) against the suspect Bohatyriova due to the fact that this suspect intentionally evades the investigation and the court.

In 2015, the Prosecutor General’s Office, in order to obtain evidence of Bohatyriova’s illegal activity, sent to the competent authorities of foreign states requests for international legal assistance, which are still being performed by foreign competent institutions.
