You're reading: Supreme Court head on the launch of court on intellectual property

The head of the Supreme Court of Ukraine Valentyna Danishevska noted the impossibility of launch of the work of the Supreme Court on Intellectual Property issues due to the fact there are no judges and funding for the launch of the new court.

“There is a court, it is registered, there is even an acting chief of staff, but there are no judges. A competition was announced, it was nearing completion, but it was stopped due to the termination of the activities of the High Qualification Commission of Judges (HQCJ),” Danishevska said in an exclusive interview with Interfax-Ukraine, answering the question of when a new court established several years ago can actually start its work.

“Now we have a problem not only due to the absence of HQCJ, what is more, there is no funding today either. Even existing courts have insufficient funding, not to mention a new court,” said the head of the Supreme Court.
