The Cassation Administrative Court within the Supreme Court has opened proceedings on one of the lawsuits to channel the decree of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky on the imposition of sanctions against three TV channels.

As the Supreme Court reported on Feb. 11 evening, the Cassation Administrative Court scheduled the case for consideration for March 15 at 12 p.m..

“The court found that, in substantiating the claims, the plaintiff indicates a violation of his right to receive information from information programs broadcast by the TV channels 112 Ukraine, NewsOne, ZIK and others listed in the annexes to the contested decision, since his access to them is blocked. The plaintiff believes that the loss of access to these TV channels is a violation of his rights, which are provided for by Articles 8 and 10 of the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms. Taking into account the provisions of Part 2 of Article 266 and Part 5 of Article 262 of the Code of Administrative Procedure of Ukraine, the court considered that it was necessary to verify the violation of the said rights of the plaintiff in the court hearing,” the court ruling said.

As it became known to Interfax-Ukraine, it is about the claim of Kharkiv lawyer, member of Chuhuiv Human Rights Group Roman Likhachev.

This is the third lawsuit filed to the Supreme Court in connection with the imposition of sanctions against these TV channels.

Earlier, the Supreme Court has decided on two claims of citizens who challenge the presidential decree on the enactment of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) decision, according to which sanctions were imposed to three television channels: one was refused, the second was given time to remove the shortcomings.

As reported, Zelensky on Feb. 2 enforced a decision by the National Security and Defense Council effectively blocking the operations of the television channels 112, NewsOne, and ZiK, which are believed to be associated with Viktor Medvedchuk, one of the leaders of the pro-Russian Opposition Platform – For Life party.
