While more and more foreigners are switching to bikes, e-scooters and other ‘micro-mobility’ vehicles, Ukrainians still prefer private cars, despite traffic jams.
A new survey by OLX reveals that only 12% out of 10,000 Ukrainian drivers who took part in the poll, would agree with bans on cars in city centers. 7% of respondents would share their cars with others to decrease traffic jams. The other 73% of Ukrainian drivers believe that new roads and road junctions would help to fight traffic jams.
One in five respondents objects to separate public transport lanes. 19% of Ukrainian drivers believe that those lanes would reduce roadways.
Moreover, micro-mobility vehicles, such as bikes and e-scooters, drive many Ukrainian motorists crazy. Around a half of respondents think that the people who use ‘micro-mobility’ vehicles increase the risk of road accidents.
At the same time, 91% of users of bikes, e-scooters and other means of individual transport, complain about poor road infrastructure.
Every third respondent who doesn’t have a car, has plans to buy one. Only one in eight pedestrians prefers public transport to move around cities.
Those who actually have cars generally use them everyday. 69% of the respondents drive their cars everyday, 22% – drive their cars several times a week, 7% – use them only on weekends or a few times a month, 2% of respondents share their car with other family members.
